How to Recreate the 90s Dungarees Look...

There’s nothing we love more than the classic 90s dungarees look. Hey, we created our whole brand around it! So if you are feeling nostalgic for some classic 90s style, we have put together our favourite 90s trends, and how to recreate that effortless 90s dungarees look.

Double Denim

We’re not sure how this 90s look caught on (probably something to do with NSync!) but we really loved this fun and playful 90s fashion trend.

It’s easy to recreate this 90s dungarees look with our brand new range of Faded Denim dungarees!

Choose from classic Stonewash or Pale Denim, our signature Patchwork design, or something a bit different, our brand new wide stripe denim dungarees in pink or blue. Available from Sunday 26th February.

Can’t wait until then? No worries! We have a cute range of denim dungarees with sweet messaging. Choose from Smile, Love, or Good Vibes for your little ones.

Team any of our denim dungarees with a denim jacket and you are all set to embrace this 90s dungarees look!

Scrunchies

The nineties would not have been the nineties without some fun accessories and first on our list is the classic scunchie. No longer reserved for the ballet barre or gymnasium, scrunchies became a staple 90s fashion accessory.

To fully embrace this 90s dungarees look, put your little one’s hair up high into a pony tail and secure with a hairband, before adding one of our scrunchies to complete the look. Alternatively, our scunchies can be worn as bracelets on your little one’s arm, ready to tie their hair back when undertaking messy adventures!.

Our scrunchies come in packs of 3 so your little one can choose their favourite to match with their outfit that day. We even have leopard print ones, which brings us nicely into our next 90s dungarees look!

Leopard Print

We think we have the Spice Girls to thank for this widespread fashion trend of the 90s. Think Scary Spice’s one-piece in leopard print! But here at Dotty HQ we have brought this trend back with our leopard print dungarees.

Get the full 90s dungarees look by pairing your little one’s leopard print dungarees with Skechers, or chunky Fila sneakers.

Tracksuits and Sportswear

We definitely can thank Sporty Spice for the huge 90s fashion trend of bringing sports attire to the every day. No longer were tracksuits something you hid in at the gym, now they were positioned centre stage as a fashion style in their own right. Remember the Adidias trackies! Super cool and super comfy, our favourite combo!

To recreate this 90s dungarees look, pair one of our Baseball tees with a pair of dungarees. We would go for our Nordic Lightning dungarees, or any of our Classic dungarees in Moss GreenBright Red, or Old Rose Pink for a relaxed sporty look.

Plaid Flannel Shirts

If you weren’t a big fan of the tracksuit but still wanted an effortless, cool style, in the 90s we turned to rock bands for inspiration. Not only was long hair on guys suddenly pretty cool, that or the Leonardo Di Caprio Titanic “curtains” haircut. How many boys at school rocked this look!? The lowly plaid flannel shirt made its debut. How did that happen? No longer a mere tea towel, or used sparingly as a prop in the school nativity, no the humble tea towel had been transformed into a core fashion item.

Teamed with a graphic tee, the lowly flannel shirt had raised our fashion game and we want to show you how to recreate this iconic 90s look!

It’s actually a very versatile piece allowing you to create not one but two iconic 90s dungarees looks. Firstly simply worn over your little one’s dungarees, as an almost  “cool cardi”, the perfect transition item as we approach the warmer Spring days.

Secondly, the plaid flannel shirt can be worn in the 90s style, our absolute fave look to be honest, which is worn tied around the waist. Choose one of our dungaree shorts for this look to exude style as your little ones approach Spring/Summer dressing.

We would choose one of our dungaree shorts from our new collection: Faded Denim. Choose from Pale Denim, Stonewash, or our Patchwork design for a classic 90s dungarees look.

Neon Bright Tees

Lastly on our favourite 90s dungarees looks are bright t-shirts in neon colours: green, yellows and oranges. Brought to our attention by king of cool, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

To recreate this iconic look, we have introduced bright yellow, red, and green to our range of Baseball tops, and some new Jack tees!

Go bold by pairing your bright colour of choice with one of our Classic dungarees in a different colour. Choose a more subtle look by teaming one of our bright tees with our new range of Denim dungarees which launch on Sunday 26th Feb.
